Welcome to Moodmap's Blog.

We'll be expanding on the information here as we continue our development of our product.

I hope this can give a greater level of understanding to how we are building the product, and the decision making process behind that.

*p.s., writing is not my forte, but so bare with me :) *

Why did we start Moodmap

There are so many different reasons.

On a personal level, I have ADHD and ASD, and I'm frustrated with the solutions that exist in the space at the moment. I want to build something that I can use. I didn't find those sorts of tools for myself and I didn't want to wait around hoping that someone else would create it.

Mental health management and treatment is so vastly behind where it should. We have incredibly powerful tools in software and data science that need to be used effectively to change peoples lives and, importantly to me, give them more agency and objectivity over there lives.

What is important with building products in this space.

In building Moodmap, the primary focus is on - does this help people and empower them to have more agency over there lives.

With that said, other things I think are extremely important are maintain a commitment to ethics in the product and what it does, a commitment to truth in that it is not a feel good placebo but creates a tangible benefit to customers lives, and a commitment to agency versus privacy - i believe privacy in the digital world is long gone although we also ensure we all our data and data privacy tools are top notch. Agency through having control of how your data is used is incredibly important and something I am constantly thinking about in building the product. I will be writing more on this, but things like https://inrupt.com/solid , are very much ways to approach that core issue.

Moving fast and breaking things isn't the right way to create products and businesses that directly impact peoples lives. So in building Moodmap, thinking about these problems and goals from first principles is incredibly important.
